SAFWCO Flood response in Distict Thatta
A) Nourishing the Unfed
The destruction unleashed by the devastating floods in the history of the country is immense and beyond imagination. Sindh is going through unprecedented destruction as a result of the floods after the monsoon rains.

SAFWCO, in this difficult time of the history of Sindh province responding promptly and with great zeal. We are working in five flood ravaged districts of Sindh province where, Dadu, Thatta, Khairpur, Jamshoro, and Hyderabad on its own and in some areas along with its National, International Partners & Sindh Government.

The district Thatta is one of flood affected district, where SAFWCO with collaboration of group of philanthropic where M. Yousuf Adil Saleem & Co, Chartered Accountants (Deloitte) in association with Ismail Industries Limited, Dairy land Pvt. Ltd, Engro Foods Limited and other philanthropic have commited to provide milk and biscuit rolls to aproxmatly 85,000 children of 20,000 families. From the initional stage SAFWCO is providing one (1) liter of milk per family and one family pack of biscuits on daily basis to 1000 families tented on the right and left side of the river Indus in camps of Surjani and Munarki embankments. In addition, SAFWCO along with other partners intends to widen the scope of milk and biscuit rolls distribution in district Dadu, Jamshoro and other flood affected districts of the Sindh.

In district Thatta, SAFWCO team at first place carried out registration of these families at the first instance; afterwards it started distributing the required items among the IDPs. The process of distribution of milk and biscuits started from beginning of the month of September, 2010 which still continues. So far the SAFWCO team has distributed 8,286 liters of milk and 2,892 family packs (rolls) of biscuits among IDPs.

This effort of SAFWCO has been highly appreciated by the flood affectees and SAFWCO aims to continue its effort as along as IDPs.

Dedicated and hardworking teams of SAFWCO are busy in the flood affected areas to gather information and conduct surveys which will help in distributing the aid in deserving hands.
B) SAFWCO with the support of PPAF installed five (5) medical camps in District Thatta on 26th August,
with Doctors, paramedical staff, Mobile services with full equipments and medicines in various flood affected areas, total 2,717 flood affected people provided medical facilities.
• provided OPD facilities to 392 patients in Sajjanwari
• provided OPD facilities to 506 patients in Dhandhri
• provided OPD facilities to 504 patients in Ghorabari
• provided OPD facilities to 456 patients in Gharo City
• provided OPD facilities to 882 patients in Makkli.
• Total 81 patients were referred to hospitals
C)PPAF has provided Six thousand (60,000) Juices on 4th September, 2010 such juices SAFWCO providing in the medical camps for children nutrition. In addition in five UCs of District Thatta 24 hand pumps are installed in the 10 flood effectees camps for their drinking water and other use
D) SAFWCO have also plan to provide food facilities to 10,000 families through the support of various National and International support organizations, still in the pipe line for further process, very soon we will provide.
E) For the facilities of Safe drinking water ten (10) water purified plants will be installed in district Thatta which is supported by Sindh Government of Pakistan, it is still in process very soon 10 water purified plants will be installed.
F) SAFWCO support in District Thatta to District Government on 13th August, 2010.

Safwco envisions ‘sustainable communities achieving equitable economic, social, political and cultural development through grass roots development institutions.
