Safwco undertakes efforts to shift 1000 persons to relief camps in Dadu
Safwco rescue team shifted 100 persons including women, children and old to the safer places near the Dadu Moro Bridge and from Aminani Band. For its rescue operation 1 power boat with petrol engine is used to carry the people from inundated villages to the safer places and at camps organized. 10 vehicles for shifting and evacuation are used to carry the affected people. 1 Ambulance with Medical officer, 3 parameds with medicines is used to provide medical services to the people at camps.
Hundreds of villages inundated in Dadu
More than 217 villages have been inundated in Dadu and Mehar Tehsils. Around 65,822 persons have been registered in different camps in Dadu and Mehar Tehsils and thousands of people have settled on the protection bands. Around 30,000 persons are settled in spontaneous and scattered camps along the embankments and roads. The camps announced by district government cannot accommodate all the displaced population.
5000 flood affected families are provided with Water, Sanitation and hygiene facilities in Dadu district
In district Dadu, Safwco with the support of Oxfam has started response to 5000 families with full WASH package. So far hygiene kits and buckets have been distributed to 1000 families, VIP latrines in two camps have been constructed and drinking water source has been provided in one camp.
We will constructed in all 300 VIP latrines, rehabilitate existing latrines in 40 camps, rehabilitate existing drinking water sources in 20 camps, sanitary workers have been hired who clean the sanitation facilities in all the camps, drinking water quality monitoring has been initiated.
WASH cluster has established engaging all the key stakeholders and so far two cluster meetings have been convened where water, Sanitation and health conditions of people are discussed to take further precautionary measures to protect people from diseases. Flood hit 5250 families are provided Health and Hygiene Kits in Dadu, Khairpur Mir’s, Jamshoro and Hyderabad Districts
With the support of Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Safwco is providing Health and Hygiene Kits to 5250 flood affected families in Dadu, Khairpur Mir’s, Hyderabad and Jamshoro Districts. These kits include plastic sheets, Jarry Cane, Jug, glasses, Lotta, bathing soaps, and water bucket with lid. These Kits will help people to protect themselves from unhygienic condition created by flood in their respective areas. Below is the list of items given to the affected population.
